Jörn Göres

Jörn Göres (born August 4, 1931 Bangkattan in Sumatra , † December 11, 2004 in Stuttgart ) was a German German studies scholar and museum director.

Life

Born in Sumatra as the son of an Austrian tobacco grower, he spent his childhood in various German towns. He passed his Abitur in 1951 at the Marquartstein State School Home . He then studied in Bonn and Heidelberg and received his doctorate in 1957 .

From 1958 to 1992 he worked at the Goethe Museum in Düsseldorf , from 1966 as director. In the period after German reunification he was briefly President of the Goethe Society .
