Dinis is considered to be the first great novelist of modern Portuguese civil society. His novels are written in a simple and straightforward style for a wide audience. His first novel related to his own family situation and described the influence of the English on Portuguese culture and the second describes the English society in Porto. Some of his works and plays were published posthumously. There are no translations of his books into other languages.
