Jewish cemetery (Liebenau, Lower Saxony)
The Jewish cemetery Liebenau is a Jewish cemetery in Liebenau ( Nienburg / Weser district , Lower Saxony ). It is a protected cultural monument . In the 2150 m² cemetery there are still 70 gravestones from the period after 1850 - some of them only with Hebrew inscriptions.
history
The cemetery had existed on Stolzenauer Strasse since at least 1778. In 1831 it was expanded to 2150 m². The deceased Jews from Steyerberg and - until 1843 - the deceased of two Jewish families from Siedenburg were also buried for a fee . In January 1939 the cemetery was closed due to an order of the district president .
