The Jewish cemetery in Lingen ( Emsland district ) is a protected cultural monument .

There are 71 gravestones in the 1341 m² cemetery on “Weidestrasse” . The oldest is from 1843, the youngest from 1976.
history
In 1952 the cemetery was owned by the Jewish Trust Corporation (JTC) and since 1959 it has been owned by the State Association of Jewish Communities of Lower Saxony . From 1980 a grammar school took care of the cemetery maintenance, since 1986 the city of Lingen and an ecumenical working group have been responsible. Repairs were carried out in 1954, 1959 and 1995. In 1958, 1972/73, 1975 and 2002 gravestones were overturned or damaged.
