from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Jewish cemetery in Bergen was a Jewish cemetery in Bergen auf Rügen in the district of Vorpommern-Rügen in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

description

As part of the municipal cemetery, the Jewish cemetery was probably located on the corner of Südstrasse / Am Friedhof and Gartenstrasse, because there was the transition to the then undeveloped meadow.

history

Nothing more is known about the history of a Jewish cemetery in Bergen. According to local information, the cemetery is said to have existed as part of the municipal cemetery in the 1950s. Today nothing of it can be discovered. Even the old maps ( MTB 1880 and 1920) do not show the position of the Jewish cemetery - called burial place - with the signature L instead of the Christian †, as is usual everywhere.
