Jewish cemetery (Delitzsch)

The Delitzsch Jewish Cemetery is a cemetery in the town of Delitzsch in the northern Saxony district in Saxony .

The 1093 m² Jewish cemetery is at the end of Hainstrasse and the corner of Rosental across from the St. Maria retirement home. 34 tombstones have been preserved and there are more stones on the wall. For the First World War fallen soldiers is memorial stone there.

history

In 1865, the first burial took place in the cemetery of the Jewish community established in Delitzsch in the 19th century . It was expanded in 1911 and 1928. In 1928 a cemetery hall was built, which was destroyed in the November pogrom in 1938. The cemetery was desecrated in 1976 and April 2010 : in 2010 it was devastated across the board, all the gravestones were knocked from their bases and the memorial plaque at the entrance was smashed.
