In the cemetery on Römerweg there are around 1000 tombstones for Jews from Wachenheim and the surrounding area who died between the 16th and 19th centuries.
history
The Jews from Wachenheim and the surrounding area buried their dead in the Jewish cemetery in Wachenheim since the 16th century. It is one of the oldest Jewish cemeteries in the Palatinate, was already officially named "judengrüben" in 1522 and 1579 and was used as a burial place not only by the Jewish community in Wachenheim, but also by the Jewish communities in Burrweiler , Edenkoben and Schifferstadt .
