history
The dead of the Jewish community of Krautheim were initially buried in the Berlichingen Jewish cemetery . In 1837 a separate cemetery was created with an area of 7.5 acres . The oldest tombstones are from the same year. The Jewish communities of Neunstetten and Ballenberg shared the cemetery. The last burial took place in 1935. In 1944 the site was confiscated and offered to the city of Krautheim for sale. Fortunately, the cemetery was not destroyed.
The cemetery has remained untouched since 1942, 116 gravestones in different weathering conditions have been preserved. The first burials were Manasses Blum (d. April 29, 1837) and Bonele Dukat (d. May 1837). Common family names are Rothschild, Seldner and Blum.
