Jewish Museum Bologna

The Jewish Museum Bologna (Italian Museo ebraico di Bologna ) is located in via Valdonica 1/5 in Bologna , the capital of the Italian region Emilia-Romagna . The museum is located not far from the University of Bologna in the city's former ghetto .

The Museum of the History of the Jews in Bologna and the Emilia-Romagna Region opened on May 9, 1999 in Palazzo Pannolini . The visitors are given a basic understanding of the Jewish way of life. The exhibition is mainly based on texts and audio materials in Italian and English. Part of the exhibition also deals with the themes of the Holocaust and anti-Semitism and commemorates the approximately 200 Jews in the region, mainly from Bologna and Ferrara , who were deported to extermination camps and murdered. A small part of the exhibition also depicts Zionism in Italy. The museum also shows changing special exhibitions.

The museum has a documentation center with a library that can be used by visitors. A bookstore complements the offer.
