Jürgen C. Brandt

Jürgen Christian Brandt (born March 21, 1955 in Duisburg ) is a German lawyer and politician ( SPD ). From 1999 to 2006 he was City Director of the City of Duisburg.

Life

Jürgen C. Brandt went on to study law in 1975 after graduating from high school. After successfully completing his studies, he worked as a public prosecutor and judge in Duisburg and Düsseldorf .

politics

From 1990 to 1999 he was an alderman of the city of Duisburg, then until 2006 city director of the city of Duisburg. On March 30, 2006, he was not re-elected to his office as city director by a council resolution and with a majority of one vote.

Since 2006 he has been working again as a lawyer in a law firm specializing in business and tax law. In addition, he was a scientific consultant for the SPD in the parliamentary committee of inquiry of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia , which is supposed to clarify the circumstances surrounding the torture murder in the prison in Siegburg .

On April 9, 2008 he was nominated by the SPD Duisburg as a candidate for mayor for the municipal elections in Duisburg 2009 .
