Jürgen Christoph Reidemeister

Jürgen Christoph Reidemeister (born January 14, 1934 in Berlin ) is a German heart specialist.

Life

Reidemeister is the son of Leopold Reidemeister and Ursula Reidemeister, b. Nordmann. His uncle was the philosopher Kurt Reidemeister , his grandfather the surgeon Otto Nordmann . He attended schools in Berlin, Bad Harzburg and Cologne , where he passed the Abitur . He studied in Hamburg, Paris and Freiburg. He received his doctorate in Freiburg in 1959. He completed his specialist training in 1969. His habilitation dealt with myocardial protection , his venia legendihe received in Cologne in 1970. In 1973 Reidemeister became a full professor and head of the department for thoracic and cardiovascular surgery at the Essen University Clinic , which he had helped to set up since 1970.

Reidemeister is married with two daughters and one son. He plays the violin ; Among other things, he played in the Collegium Musicum of the University of Essen.

Services

From 1977 to 1978 Reidemeister was dean of the medical faculty and chairman of the convention at the University of Essen . Reidemeister became president of the world congress "Thoracic Organ Transplantation" in Essen in 1991. From 1995 to 1997 he was President of the German Society for Thoracic, Cardiac and Vascular Surgery. Among other things, the clinic was able to demonstrate successful heart, lung and heart and lung transplants in combination. In 1999 the clinic performed about 1,000 open heart procedures. Reidemeister retired in 1999 and then worked as a consulting doctor for the Helios clinics at St. Josefs Hospital in Bochum 's Linden district .
