Jürgen Doberstein (born February 23, 1989 in Chromtau ) is a German professional boxer .

Life

Jürgen Doberstein moved with his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters from Kazakhstan to Germany in Saarland in 1998 . He has lived in Kleinblittersdorf with his wife Nadja Doberstein since 2014. Before that he lived in Elversberg. The couple has two sons born in 2014 and 2017.

Amateur career

Under Sergej Ostrovski , Doberstein began his sports career in Saarland at the age of 9. As an amateur, he played 75 fights. He was several times youth and junior Saarland champion, Southwest German champion and German vice-champion in the juniors. At the age of 16 he boxed in the upper league and at the age of 17 already in the 2nd Bundesliga for the Heidelberg-Rhein-Neckar Olympic base . In 2007 he got a preliminary contract with the famous boxing stable Sauerland Event Berlin. There he won several international tournaments as an amateur for Eintracht Berlin.

Professional career

After winning the Berlin championship, Doberstein became a professional boxer at Sauerland when he was only 18 years old. But when Manfred Wolke , former trainer of Henry Maske, left Sauerland, there was no further cooperation between Doberstein and Sauerland. Doberstein went back to Saarland to his trainer Sergej Ostrovski. In 2011 he signed a three-year contract with Dog Event Boxing , which ended on December 31, 2013.

In 2012 he became the German senior champion. He defeated Christian Pavlak on points (10 rounds). In 2012 he became IBF Junior World Champion after 7 rounds by technical knockout against Michal Nieroda from Poland . In March 2013 he won (12 rounds, points victory) the WBF Intercontinental title against the Spaniard Blas Miguel-Martinez . In September 2013 he successfully defended his title (12 round points win) against the South African William Gare . In the 10th round Gare went down and was counted.

In June 2014 Jürgen Doberstein and his team founded Doberstein Promotion GmbH. In July 2014 Doberstein won against Matingu Kindele on points, this was not a title fight. On November 22nd, Jürgen Doberstein won the IBF Mediterranean title.

Jürgen Doberstein has been training under Cuban Pedro Diaz in Miami since March 2015. After two development fights, each of which Doberstein won by knockout, he won the WBA intercontinental title on December 5, 2015 in front of a home crowd in the Saarlandhalle.

Doberstein has had Karl-Heinz Krüger at his side as a trainer since 2017. January 2018 he signed a promoter contract with A&T Events and Promotions (USA).
