Jürgen Fuhrmann (physicist)

Jürgen Fuhrmann (born July 18, 1937 in Dortmund ; † October 21, 2005 ) was a German physicist and university professor.

Life

Fuhrmann studied physics at RWTH Aachen University and was active in the Aachen Corps Marcomannia Breslau in 1958 . As a graduate physicist, he went to the Bergakademie and Technische Hochschule Clausthal in 1966 with his doctoral supervisor Günther Rehage . There he was promoted to Dr. rer. nat. PhD . In 1971 he completed his habilitation. In 1974 he took over a professorship for physical chemistry at the University of Kaiserslautern, which was founded in 1970 . In 1986 he accepted the chair for physical chemistry from Clausthal University of Technology . As its rector (1994–1996), he was committed to new courses of study (energy systems technology, business mathematics and plastics technology ). He founded the Information Technology Center and the Polymer Center . From 1988 to 1997 he was a specialist reviewer for the German Research Foundation for the physics and chemistry of polymers . In 2002 he retired .
