Jürgen Hainz

Jürgen Hainz (born October 11, 1950 in Meißen ; † January 14, 1972 in Wernigerode ) was a fatality on the inner-German border .

Life

The transport worker Jürgen Hainz, who lives in Krostitz, tried on the night of June 14th to 15th, 1971, to cross the inner-German border in misery . He was provided by two posts. Because he did not react to a warning shot, he was shot and seriously injured by Sergeant Peter L. He was then taken to the Wernigerode district hospital. There the doctors found that Jürgen Hainz would remain paralyzed from the seventh thoracic vertebra on. The bullet had injured his spinal cord. He was in the hospital for seven months until he died of pneumonia on January 14, 1972 .

The shooter was sentenced on May 6, 1997 by the Berlin Regional Court to one year and nine months' imprisonment on probation.
