Jürgen Mansel
Jürgen Mansel (born April 29, 1955 in Zweibrücken ; † March 7, 2012 in Bielefeld ) was a German sociologist and educationalist .
Life
Jürgen Mansel, born in Zweibrücken in 1955, studied sociology from 1978 to 1983 at Saarland University , where he also received his doctorate in 1986/87. He also began his academic career at Saarland University in 1983 as a research assistant at the Institute for Legal and Social Philosophy. After a short time at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal , he then moved to Bielefeld University in 1988 , where he worked as a research assistant at the Faculty of Education and at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research on Conflict and Violence until 1994 . In 1994 he completed his habilitation there. In the 1997 summer semester he held a visiting professorship for “Youth, Technology and Health” at the Philosophical Faculty of Chemnitz University . Until 2000, he then held a university professorship at Bielefeld University with a teaching and research assignment in the field of pedagogy with a focus on socialization. After various project activities, especially at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research on Conflict and Violence, he was appointed adjunct professor at Bielefeld University in October 2000, where he taught and researched to the end.
Jürgen Mansel has been spokesman for the youth sociology section of the German Sociological Society since 1999 . In addition, he was a member of the advisory board of the journal Diskurs Kindheits- und Jugendforschung and co-editor of the series Kindheits- und Jugendforschung at Juventa-Verlag.
