Jürgen Meixensberger

Jürgen H. Meixensberger (born November 24, 1956 in Schweinfurt ) is a German neurosurgeon and clinic director of the clinic and polyclinic for neurosurgery at the Leipzig University Clinic ( AöR ).

Career

Jürgen Meixensberger studied human medicine at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg from 1976 to 1982 . In 1982 he obtained his license to practice medicine . The following year he became a research assistant at the Neurosurgical Clinic and Polyclinic of the University of Würzburg. In 1985 he was with summa cum laude to the Dr. med. PhD. In 1989 he was promoted to senior physician at the Würzburg Neurosurgical Clinic. In 1990 he received specialist certification in the field of neurosurgery . In 1993 Meixensberger's habilitation took place at the University of Würzburg.

In 1994 he received the Venia legendi for neurosurgery from his alma mater . In the same year, the facultative advanced training in neurosurgical intensive care medicine was recognized. In 1996 he was promoted to senior physician in charge. In 1998 Meixensberger received a C3 professorship at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg.

In 2000 he accepted a call to the C4 professorship for neurosurgery at the Medical Faculty of the University of Leipzig . In the following year he became clinic director of the clinic and polyclinic for neurosurgery at the Leipzig University Hospital. From 2005 to 2008 he was dean of the Medical Faculty of Leipzig University.

Since 2005 he has been managing director of the Innovation Center Computer Assisted Surgery (ICCAS). From 2010 to 2012 Meixensberger was chairman of the German Society for Neurosurgery (DGNC). In addition, he is a member of the Department of Specialties of the Neurosurgical Academy for advanced training, education and training of the DGNC. From 2010 to 2013 he was a member of the Dean's Board of the Medical Faculty of the University of Leipzig.

Meixensberger has been President of the German Society for Neurointensive and Emergency Medicine (DGNI) since 2015 , before that he was vice-president of the society.
