Jürgen Morhard

Jürgen MH Morhard (born August 1, 1956 in Pirmasens ) is a German diplomat and has been consul general in Mumbai since 2016 .

Life

After graduating from high school , Morhard began studying business administration at the University of Cologne in 1978 , which he completed in 1982. After various Abroad and research stays in Japan and France he laid in 1987 at the University of Cologne's promotion to Dr. rer. pole. with a dissertation on Economic Security and Politics in Japan: A Factor in the Conception of Japanese Foreign and Security Policy . Jürgen Morhard is married and has two children.

career

In 1987 he joined the Foreign Service and, after completing his training as an attaché and completing his career test, he was employed at the diplomatic missions in Japan from 1989 to 1993, in Togo between 1996 and 1999, and in Hong Kong from 1999 to 2003 and in the meantime at headquarters of the Foreign Office . During this time, he dealt in particular with economic policy issues and questions of foreign trade promotion. In 2003 Morhard returned to the headquarters of the Foreign Office in Berlin, where he was deputy head of the budget and finance department until 2006 , before he was head of the economic department at the embassy in the USA between 2006 and 2009 . From 2009 to 2012 he then acted as budget officer in the Foreign Office.

In August 2012 he became ambassador to Sri Lanka and thus successor to Jens Plötner . In this function he is also accredited as ambassador to the Maldives. Morhard has been acting Consul General in Mumbai , India since 2016 .
