Jürgen Pichler
Jürgen Pichler (born June 3, 1961 in Nuremberg ) is a German chess player and has held the title of International Master since 1991 .
Pichler was active from 1986 to 1990 (for the Munich SC 1836 ) and 1995 to 2000 (for the chess club Passau 1869 ) in the single-track 1st Chess Bundesliga . He last played in the 2006/07 season for Passau in the 2nd Bundesliga . Since then he has not been registered for any German chess club.
In 1988 he won the New Year's Open in Münnerstadt-Windheim . In 1990 he was first ahead of Igor Khenkin at an IM tournament in Moscow . In 1991 he was shared third behind Vasily Smyslow at a grand master's tournament in Gelsenkirchen .
His Elo rating is 2388 (as of May 2016), but he is listed as inactive because he has not played a rated game since the 2006/07 season of the 2nd Bundesliga East. He reached his highest rating to date of 2435 in July 1992.
