Ernst Heinrich Leopold Richter

Ernst Heinrich Leopold Richter (born November 15, 1805 in Thiergarten , district of Ohlau , province of Silesia , today in Ohlau ; † April 24, 1876 in Steinau an der Oder ) was a German music teacher and composer .

Life

Ernst HL Richter received his first music lessons in Thiergarten near Ohlau, Breslau and Berlin , among others with Bernhard Klein and Carl Friedrich Zelter . In 1826 he joined the Breslau Singakademie , where he often worked as a soloist. In 1827 he became a music teacher at the Protestant school teacher seminar in Breslau, from 1847 after it was moved to Steinau an der Oder. He became music director there and was a respected teacher. He was friends with August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben , with whom he published several collections of folk songs and from whom he set various texts to music.
