Jürgen Polzehl

Jürgen Polzehl (* 1953 in Zerpenschleuse ) is a German local politician ( SPD ). He has been the full-time mayor of Schwedt / Oder since 2005 and was re-elected for another eight-year term in 2013.

Career

Polzehl was born in 1953 as the son of a power foreman from Zerpenschleuse on the Finow Canal . Polzehl grew up in Schwedt from 1957, where he attended the Käte Duncker Polytechnic and trained as a skilled chemical worker. After studying in Köthen , he worked as a process engineer for five years at a gas production company in Brandenburg an der Havel and returned to Schwedt in 1978, where he worked in project planning at the Petrolchemical Combine (PCK) . In 1989 he moved to the city ​​administration , where he was most recently 1st deputy and thus 1st deputy of Mayor Peter Schauer as well as department head for urban development , economy and construction. He has been the mayor of Schwedt / Oder since December 1, 2005 after winning the election with 75%. He was re-elected on September 22, 2013 against the non-party former leftist Nadine Heckendorn with 79% of the vote.

Polzehl is married to a math and chemistry teacher and has two children.
