Jürgen Renn (born March 10, 1940 ) is a former German football player who was active in the 1970s for the Vorwärts Stralsund army sports community in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of GDR football . Renn is a four-time junior national player.

Athletic career

Jürgen Renn played in the junior team of Motor Stralsund until 1958 and played four international matches with the GDR junior national team between 1957 and 1958 . There he was used as a striker and scored two goals. Even before the end of the 1958 season (calendar year season), Renn switched to the top division club Rotation Babelsberg and was used in a top division game on the last day of the match. After relegation from the league, Babelsberg had to compete in the second-rate GDR league from 1959 . Before the start of the season, racing was used in a few test matches, but then disappeared from higher-class football for a long time.

For the 1963/64 season, the Army Sports Association (ASG) forward Rostock reported Jürgen Renn as a new addition to their GDR league team. He was also a member of the National People's Army . In his first season in Rostock, Renn played 16 of the 30 league games, but was then able to establish himself as a regular player until 1967. By the end of the 1966/67 season he had completed 98 of 120 point games for the ASG and scored three goals. The ASG was then moved to the Stralsund location and in future it appeared as ASG Vorwärts Stralsund.

Until 1969/70 Jürgen Renn was used in 68 of the 90 GDR league games (4 goals). In the 1970/71 season Vorwärts Stralsund made it to the league, where Renn was involved with 26 stakes and one goal. In the 26 games long league season 1971/72 Renn was used 23 times in defense. After a season, the Stralsund rose again from the GDR league. This had been expanded to five seasons, in each of which 22 games were played. 1972/73 the ASG was the season winner and came into the league promotion round, but failed as third in the table. After Renn had played 15 point games, he was used in the promotion round in all eight games (1 goal). A year later Stralsund was again the season winner and after a second place in the promotion round reached promotion to the league for the second time. This time, Renn was instrumental in the success with 20 stakes in points (1 goal) and all eight promotion games. In his second league season 1974/75 Renn was there from the first day of play and at the end of the season came to 21 league stakes. In the second attempt, ASG Vorwärts Stralsund could not keep up. Jürgen Renn took this as an opportunity to end his career as a competitive athlete at the age of 35 and after 45 league appearances (no goals).
