Jürgen Schiller

Jürgen Schiller (born August 18, 1946 in Hollstadt ) is a German swimmer and Olympic participant. The 1.81 m tall and 78 kg heavy athlete initially started for Delphin Gelsenkirchen and switched to the Essener swimming club 06 after the Grugabad opened .

Schiller took part in the 1964 qualifying competitions for the 1964 Olympic team, but could not prevail. In 1966 he was German champion over 400 m individual medley, in 1967 he won over 200 m medley. At the European Championships in Utrecht in 1966 , he reached fourth place in the 400 m medley in 4: 58.1 minutes. At the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City , he started over 200 m individual medley, but was 15th of the prelims (2: 20.8 minutes) but failed to qualify for the final.

After finishing his sporting career, he founded a private swimming school and took over the management of the Kockshusen restaurant in the Schellenberger Forest in Essen-Heisingen.
