Jürgen Schrapp

Jürgen Schrapp (born July 27, 1974 in Illertissen ) is a German disabled athlete .

Career

Jürgen Schrapp was born on July 27, 1974 in Illertissen . He works as a commercial clerk. Because of his physical handicap, he can only exercise while sitting. That is why he chose sitting volleyball as his sporting discipline. That is why he joined TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen in 1994 because this club was a leader in sitting volleyball in Germany. With this club he was German champion in sitting volleyball 17 times from 1994 to 2018.

Because of his achievements in the club, he was appointed to the German national team, in which he played in a total of 267 international matches for Germany.

In total, he took part in the national team in the Paralympic Summer Games five times in 1996 , 2000 , 2004 , 2012 and 2016 . He and the German team achieved 3rd place in 2012 and thus a bronze medal.

He also participated successfully in the world championships in his sport. In 2002 he was runner-up with the team.

For winning the bronze medal at the Paralympics 2012, he and the team were awarded the silver laurel leaf on December 1, 2012 .
