Jürgen Traub

Jürgen Traub (born May 16, 1943 in Schweinfurt ) is a former roller and speed skater and two-time Olympic participant .

Life

As a ten-year-old, Traub initially competed in swimming competitions before turning to speed skating at ERV Schweinfurt together with his brother Günter Traub . The change was supported by the creation of a high-speed roller track in the Willy Sachs Stadium in 1960. In this discipline he was multiple German champion, world record holder and world champion. At the same time, the brothers devoted themselves to speed skating from 1959. In 1964 Jürgen Traub started at the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck , where he finished 21st in the 10,000 m distance. At the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble , Traub competed in the runs over 1500 m, 5000 m and 10,000 m and finished in 22nd, 20th and 18th place.

In 1970, Traub took over the parental medical supply store , having previously obtained the master's degree as an orthopedic mechanic. In the following decades he expanded the company, which now has twelve locations in Lower Franconia. In 2008 he handed over the management of the company to his sons.
