Jürgen Voss (chemist)

Jürgen Voss (born February 19, 1936 in Hamburg ) is a German chemist .

Voss was born the son of a civil servant worker. He received his doctorate in 1965, followed by a habilitation in 1973 on EPR spectroscopic investigations of the radical anions of carboxylic acid esters . Since 1977 he has been a professor at the University of Hamburg . In 1987 he succeeded in presenting a penta radical anion and its EPR spectroscopic analysis for the first time. Voss also became known for the environmentally relevant electrochemical degradation reactions of halogenated aromatics and dioxins.
