Jüri Järvet

Jüri Järvet ( Russian Юри Ярвет , actually Georgi Kusnezow ( Russian Георгий Кузнецов ); born June 18, 1919 in Tallinn , Estonia ; † July 5, 1995 ibid) was an Estonian or Soviet actor .

Life and accomplishments

Jüri Järvet was born in Estonia and was originally called Georgi Kuznetsov . He adopted his Estonian name in 1938.

From 1941 on, Järvet auditioned at various Estonian theaters before joining the Tallinn Theater Institute in 1946 and playing at the Estonian Academy Theater from 1952 .

Järvet made his film debut in 1955 with Счастье Андруса . The most famous film roles in his career were those of King Lear in Grigori Kosinzew 's film of the same name , as well as those of Dr. Snaut in Solaris based on Stanisław Lem's novel . He was also heard as a speaker in the Estonian cult film The Last Relic . Järvet starred in 56 films and was active until his death.

His son of the same name, who was born on November 11, 1958, is also an actor.

Honors

Järvet has received several awards for both his theater and film work. So he was u. a. Appointed Honored Artist of the Estonian SSR in 1964 and People's Artist of the Estonian SSR five years later , and in 1975 also People's Artist of the USSR . In 1981 he received the State Prize of the USSR .
