Jānis Lūsis (zoologist)

Jānis Lūsis ( December 5, 1897 - August 10, 1979 ) was a Soviet zoologist and geneticist .

Life

Lūsis attended secondary school in the city of Walk from 1912 to 1916 . He had a lifelong friendship with his classmate TK Lepin . He studied biology at Leningrad University and then taught there until 1936. In 1949 he returned to Latvia. In 1958 he became a corresponding member of the Latvian Academy of Sciences. Until 1979 he remained professor of zoology at the Pēteris Stučka University of the Latvian Soviet Republic.
