history

Josef Berg Verlag was founded in Munich in 1950. At first J. Berg published only entertainment literature. With the publication of several books by the famous mountaineer Luis Trenker , the program was expanded to include mountain literature. Were added in the following years numerous illustrated books and tour guides who are still among the classics of alpine literature, such as Hüslers ferrata Atlas Alps , the illustrated book on foot across the Alps by Ludwig Graßler or tour guide 4000s by Richard Goedeke. In the mid-1990s, J. Berg was integrated into the Bruckmann Verlag Bergbuch program. Today, J. Berg, as the imprint of Bruckmann Verlag, has been publishing books under his own name on topics from Bavaria, the Alpine region and the neighboring regions since 2004, including, above all, leisure and hiking guides for the whole family.
