J. Hervey Germain

J. Hervey Germain (born June 5, 1888 - January 19, 1961 ) was a Canadian actor and humorist .

Germain was a member of the Association dramatique de Montréal and appeared in 1905 alongside Conrad Gauthier and Hector Pellerin as Valrennes in Joseph Cadieux 's play Frontenac . In 1919 he joined the acting company Jeanne-Emons founded by Henri Poitras , Jeanne Demons , Antoinette Giroux , Raoul Léry and Lise Bonheur , who performed at the Family Theater . In the same year he had resounding success with Juliette Béliveau in the piece Les Aventures d'Aglaé , which ran en suite at the Ouimetoscope for 52 weeks .

In addition to his work as a vaudeville actor, he recorded more than 150 skits between 1920 and 1935 (with Juliette Béliveau, Fannie Tremblay and Rose Rey-Duzil, among others ), as well as numerous songs, many of which were adaptations of American hits written by Roméo Beaudry . Between 1927 and 1931 he published the magazine Le Canada qui chante with Hector Pellerin as music editor and Raoul Léry as editor for literature.
