JB's All Stars was a British - Jamaican band of Northern Soul and Funk . It was founded in 1983 and existed for a little over two years. She was named after its founder, the Specials - drummer John Bradbury, who was known by the nickname "Brad" and "JB".

Bradbury, who, in addition to his commitment to reggae music, had developed a penchant for Northern Soul, founded JB's All Stars in 1983 after the Specials had ended , while he was still active for the follow-up band The Special aka . The All Stars included reggae and radio singers Dee Sharp and Steve Nieve from Elvis Costello's backing band The Attractions . JB's All Stars got a contract with RCA Records , where their records were released on the RCA Victor label. The single One Minute Every Hour barely missed a placement in the top 75 in 1983. Backfield in Motion - the cover version of a US top ten hit by Mel and Tim from 1969 - came in at number 48 on the official British singles chart in February 1984 ; the record was also released as a 12-inch version with a club mix on the A side. Sign on the Dotted Line reached number 97 that same year. The band's fifth and final single, Alphabet Army with B-side Al. Arm , released on the 2-tone label in 1985 . Both titles were in 1998 on the CD - Sampler The Compact 2 Tone Story republished.
