Jon-Paul Roger "JP" Pietersen (born July 12, 1986 in Stellenbosch ) is a South African rugby union player who plays on the positions outside three quarters and goalkeeper for the South African national team , the province of Natal and in super rugby for the Sharks . In 2007 he became world champion with the "Springboks" .

Career

Pietersen made his Currie Cup debut in 2005 at the age of 19. The following year he was used for the first time in the Super 14 and reached the final of the World Cup with the U21 national team of South Africa. At the Tri Nations 2006 he was nominated for the first time for the men's national team. His first game for the "Springboks" followed against Australia .

Pietersen was the top scorer of the 2007 season in the Super 14 with twelve attempts . He was nominated for the World Cup and put two attempts in the 36-0 opening win over England . At the end of the tournament he was able to celebrate South Africa's second world title.

In 2009 Pietersen played with South Africa against the British and Irish Lions . The Springboks won the series 2-1 and also secured the third title at the Tri Nations in the same year.
