JUSSCANNZ - partly also JUSCANZ - is the abbreviation for an informal group of industrialized non-member states of the European Union . The individual countries mentioned in the abbreviation are Japan , the USA , Switzerland , Canada , Australia , Norway and New Zealand . In international negotiations, this group is sometimes expanded to include countries such as Iceland , Israel , Mexico , South Korea or others. JUSSCANNZ was one of the leading groups in international negotiations in the 1990s and early 2000s. It now usually operates under the name Umbrella Group . In the meantime, Switzerland has partly turned away from JUSSCANNZ / ​​Umbrella Group and forms the Environmental Integrity Group (EIG) together with Mexico, South Korea, Liechtenstein and Monaco .

The merger as JUSSCANNZ is not formally regulated, but in fact arises from often similar interests as western-oriented industrialized countries as well as from not belonging to the European Union and the group of emerging and developing countries named G 77 .

The JUSSCANNZ group was or is an important player in numerous international negotiation processes, for example on multilateral environmental agreements . Alongside the European Union and the Group of 77, it played a key role in the negotiations on the Kyoto Protocol on climate protection . In the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management , regular regional meetings between the EU and the JUSSCANNZ countries also take place. At Conferences of the Parties of the Basel , Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions and the Minamata Convention JUSSCANNZ is one of the negotiating groups.
