Jaap Barendregt

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jaap Barendregt (born January 10, 1905 in Rotterdam , † February 16, 1952 there ) was a Dutch football player .

Barendregt was active at Feyenoord Rotterdam in the 1920s and 1930s . The effective center forward scored 196 goals in 238 games for the club from Feijenoord between 1925 and 1937. He is the record scorer for the club from the south of Rotterdam, ahead of Kees Pijl and Cor van der Gijp . With Feyenoord he was Dutch champion in 1928 and 1936 and cup winner in 1930 and 1935 .

Despite his scoring threat, Barendregt only played a single role in the national team - at the time, his position could not get past Bep Bakhuys , who scored 28 goals in his 23 international matches. In Barendregt's only game in Oranje on March 17, 1929, both strikers were in the starting line-up; Bargendregts scored no goal in the 3-2 win in the friendly match at the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam against Switzerland , while Bakhuys scored once.
