Jacob (Jaap) Boersma (born December 2, 1929 in Leeuwarden , † March 6, 2012 in Amsterdam ) was a Dutch politician and minister.

Life

He grew up in Friesland and studied economics from 1947 to 1953, first in Rotterdam and then in Amsterdam . In 1964 he entered the Second Chamber of the States General as a member of the Anti-Revolutionary Party (ARP) . From 1971 to 1973 he was Minister of Social Affairs in Barend Biesheuvel's cabinet . At times he also headed the Ministry of Agriculture. In 1978 he moved to the Christian Democratisch Appèl party (CDA) and left it on October 11, 1980. From 1989 to January 1996 he was a member of the Partij van de Arbeid .
