Jack Frost is an Austrian band that was founded in Linz in 1993 . The band name is based on a song title by Saint Vitus .

Band history

The group has released seven studio albums since 1995, the first three of which were originally cast with Robert Ritter (then Robert Hackl, guitar), Manfred Klahre (vocals, bass) and Martin Kollroß (drums). In 1999 Christoph Schmid joined the band as lead guitarist , with which Jack Frost's sound developed significantly. The dark, sad and resigned music of the group was translated into more and more catchy and concise song structures without losing the atmosphere of the early days.

With her commercially most successful album Gloom Rock Asylum (2000) Jack Frost succeeded in gaining a sworn following in the underground scene worldwide. Since that album, Jack Frost's music style has been referred to by her fans as Gloom Rock , which is supposed to reflect the incomparable sound of the band.

The band celebrated a great success with a performance at the Moscow Doom Festival in May 2010.

Six years after the release of the last studio album "My Own Private Hell", Jack Frost went back to the studio to work on a new record. This album is called Mélaina Cholé and was released on December 18, 2015 on the band's own label Gloom Rock Enterprises.
