Jack Scanlon

Jack Scanlon (born August 6, 1998 in Canterbury ) is a British actor who played the role of Shmuel in the drama The Boy in the Striped Pajamas .

Life

Scanlon was born in Canterbury but now lives in Deal, Kent with his parents and younger brother .

He auditioned for a role in "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas" through his acting club. After film director Mark Herman reduced his selection to three possible candidates and had each of them meet with Asa Butterfield in the final round , he ultimately decided on Scanlon. Quote Hermans: "Jack and Asa played very well against one another."

"The Boy in the Striped Pajamas" is Scanlon's feature film debut. Before that he was seen in a 10-minute short film called “The Eye of the Butterfly” and in 2007 in an episode of the “Peter Serafinowicz Show”. In 2009 he also played the little brother of the lead role Sean (William Miller) in the British miniseries "Runaway", which is about homelessness.
