Jackie Lane (born July 10, 1941 in Manchester , England ) is a British actress .

Life

Initially, Lane appeared as Jackie Lenya in various television productions. Among other things, she had appearances on the television series Compact and Coronation Street . She was also seen in various plays. In 1963 Lane applied for the role of Susan Foreman in the British television series Doctor Who . However, she did not want to have a long-term acting job and decided not to participate in the other casting rounds. Two years later, Lane went back to casting Doctor Who . She got the role of Dodo, a companion of the first doctor . She played this in 19 episodes of the television series. However, the producers decided not to let Dodo appear in the series. Lane had to leave the show. Her character didn't get a real farewell scene. After Doctor Who, Lane ran her own dubbing agency. In 2013, an adventure in space and time was made about the first years of Doctor Who . Lane was portrayed by Sophie Holt .
