Jackie and Jill - The bears children from Mount Tarak ( Jap. シートン動物記くまの子ジャッキー, Seton dōbutsuki - Kuma no ko Jakki , literally "Seton Animal Stories - Bear Child Jackie") is an anime series made by Nippon Animation in 1977 was produced in Japan under the direction of Yoshio Kuroda . It was based on the books Jack, the Young Grisly Bear and Monarch, the Giant Bear : The Life of a Loner ( Monarch - The Big Bear of Tallac ) by Ernest Thompson Seton .
The 26-part cartoon series takes place in eastern California and is about the friendship between two orphaned bear children and the Indian boy Ran.

Shortly after it first aired in Japan, the anime received the Cultural Award for Children's Welfare from the Japanese Ministry of Health and Welfare (now: Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare ). Due to the success, another Seton novel was filmed two years later with the series Puschel, das Eichhorn .
The German first broadcast took place from October 4, 1988 to March 28, 1989 on the then still young private broadcaster Sat.1 . The series was a program contribution from the Kirch group , which had secured the rights to license European television broadcasters. From 1990 to 1994, Jackie and Jill was repeated three times on ProSieben and Kabelkanal and has not returned to free television to this day. Since 2002, the 26 episodes have been regularly seen in the early program of the pay TV station Junior ( Premiere ). A German DVD edition has been published by Studio100 since September 28, 2009.
