Jacob Schick

Jacob Schick (born September 16, 1877 in Ottumwa , Iowa , † July 3, 1937 in Montreal ) was an American inventor and entrepreneur . He held several patents for razors . His most important invention is that of the electric razor in 1923.

After investing a large part of his fortune in the Bahamas , he was threatened with an investigation by the US Congress' tax evasion committee . Schick evaded by moving to Canada in 1935 and taking Canadian citizenship. There he died of complications after kidney surgery. He left behind his wife Florence Leavitt Schick Stedman and two daughters.
