Jacob Vis (pseudonym for: Job Vis ) (born September 20, 1940 in Haarlem ) is a Dutch writer .

Life

Jacob Vis lives in Kampen (Netherlands) . He is married and has two children. He attended agricultural, horticultural and forestry schools. Until 2001 he worked as a forester at Staatsbosbeheer (State Forest Administration of the Netherlands).

Jacob Vis has been a writer since 1987. He became known as the author of detective novels on topical and controversial social issues. Vis received four nominations for the Gouden Strop . He does a lot of research for his books. His true crime story : Het Rijk van de Bok , which dealt with a miscarriage of justice, may have set in motion the review of a closed criminal case.

Jacob Vis offers courses for aspiring writers and leads the group promoting the crime writers' association.

Writing

The first title of his book - Prins Desi - appeared in 1987. The theme is the fight between Dési Bouterse and Ronnie Brunswijk . The book was published because of the Dutch crime writer Tomas Ross, who recognized Jacob Vis's talent. The first book was enthusiastically received. After two books by book publisher Het Spectrum were published, the third book by Jacob Vis was rejected. The book publisher Ellessy Crime was then ready to publish Vis's books. Several Vis books starred “Ben van Arkel”. The German Grafit Verlag will publish all books with Van Arkel in German in the coming years.
