Gouden Strop

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

With the Gouden Strop (translated: Goldener Strick, Goldene Schlinge), the most important Dutch prize for crime literature , the best crime novel written in Dutch has been awarded by the Genootschap van Nederlandstalige Misdaadauteurs (GNM) since 1986 . In 2019, the GNM joins the Dutch Authors Association (Auteursbond) as a section. [outdated]

The GNM was founded on the initiative of the journalist and writer Tomas Ross (pseudonym for WP Hogendoorn). Not all of the novels awarded the prize were published in German-speaking countries. The award is named after the novel Gouden Strop by Dutch artist Joop van den Broek . In the English-speaking countries the award is called Golden Noose , where the GNM is called The Dutch and Flemish Crime Writers Association . The award has been endowed with € 20,000 and a sculpture by the Amsterdam sculptor Marianne van den Heuvel since 2018.

In addition to the Schaduwprijs for the best debut novel, the GNM also awards the GNM Meesterprijs , analogous to the Grand Master Award in the USA or the Cartier Diamond Dagger in England, in recognition of long years of meritorious efforts in Dutch-language crime literature .
