Bram Dehouck

Bram Dehouck (born May 2, 1978 in Poperinge , Belgium ) is a Flemish author , who was known and distinguished for his crime novels .

Life

Dehouck grew up in the south of West Flanders , in rural Poperinge. After attending the Sint-Stanislascollege , he initially pursued artistic training at the Catholic art college in Ghent . He then studied journalism . Since 2002 he has been working as communications manager at the health insurance company “Landsbond der Christelijke Mutualiteiten” (CM).

In 2007 Dehouck began his writing with the factual novel Het meisje dat vergeet , a story about his sister Gertrude who suffered from amnesia after a serious traffic accident . With De minzame moordenaar , his first detective novel, he made a very successful debut in 2010: for the best novel of the year he was awarded the Dutch literary prize Gouden Strop and for the best first novel with the Schaduwprijs . “A debut that immediately proves championship,” said the Gouden Strop jury. Dehouck achieved another success in 2012 with Een zomer zonder slaap (German: A summer without sleep) . The detective novel also won the Gouden Strop and was nominated for the Belgian Hercule Poirot Prize .
