Hercule Poirot Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

With the Hercule Poirot Prize (Original: Hercule Poirotprijs ), the best Belgian - Flemish language detective novel of the last 12 months has been awarded since 1998 . The prize has been endowed with € 1,500 since 2004; the prize money rose to € 5,000 from 2007. For this, the winner will receive an engraved Montblanc - Fountain Pen . The award was named after Agatha Christie's super detective Hercule Poirot , who was born in Belgium.

The award ceremony took place in Blankenberge until 2000 , then on the book exchange in Antwerp until 2009 . In 2010 and 2011 there was an event, the "Poirot in Bruges - Knack Thriller Festival", which took place in the City Theater of Bruges . Since 2012, the new venue has been the Antwerp Book Exchange.

The complete works of a writer has been honored with the Hercule Poirot Oeuvreprijs since 2007 . The award is made irregularly. Both awards are organized and sponsored by the weekly magazine Weekend Knack ; Therefore, the quotation Knack Hercule Poirotprijs appears more frequently in Flemish publications .
