Jacobi is an impact crater south of the lunar front , south of Cuvier crater, and northeast of Zach . The crater is heavily eroded, the interior largely flat, except for a group of smaller craters.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the German mathematician Carl Gustav Jacob Jacobi .
