Dame Jacqueline Wilson DBE (born December 17, 1945 in Bath ) is an award-winning British writer . Wilson is best known for her numerous children's books devoted to challenging topics such as adoption, abuse, divorce, and mental illness.

Jacqueline Wilson wrote detective novels and the book "Die Mitternachtsfee", radio plays and numerous books for children and young people. Her most famous books come from the Tracy Baker series: "The Incredible Story of Tracy Baker", "Clear the Stage for Tracy Baker" and "Tracy Baker Is Unbeatable".

Popularity, awards and honors

In an opinion poll by the BBC, four of their books were voted into the UK's 100 Most Popular Books. In June 2002 and 2008 she was awarded an " Order of the British Empire ". On the BBC Big Read list compiled by the BBC in 2003, Jacqueline Wilson can be found four times (!): 31st with "The Incredible Story of Tracy Baker", 80th with "Charlie's Doppelleben", 86th with "Vicky Angel" and 3rd place 98 with "Girls In Love". From 2004 to 2008 her books were the most loaned books in UK libraries.

Jacqueline Wilson was named Children's Laureate 2005-2007. She is now a two-time honorary doctor.

Private life

Wilson has one grown daughter and lives in Kingston upon Thames . On April 4, 2020 , Wilson came out as gay .
