Jacques Bougie

Jacques Bougie (* 1947 in Montreal ) is a Canadian manager.

Jacques Bougie graduated from the Université de Montréal in 1973 with a degree in law and in 1980 received his degree in Business Administration from the École des Hautes Études Commerciales (Université de Montréal).

In 1979 Bougie started at Alcan as manager of the Beauharnois works , subsidiary of Alcan Smelters and Chemicals Ltd. Between 1981 and 1989 he held various management positions in Winnipeg , Toronto and Montreal, in the area of major project development , planning and general management , with responsibility for manufacturing production in North America. In July 1989 he became President and Chief Operating Officer of Montreal-based Alcan Aluminum Ltd. , was appointed CEO in November 1993 and resigned from this position on January 10, 2001, shortly after acquiring the Swiss Algroup (formerly Lonza Group ) for Alcan .

Bougie became an Officer of the Order of Canada in 1994 and received an honorary doctorate from the Université de Montréal in 2001 . While his annual salary in 1999 was still $ 23.8 million, the man who had 56,000 employees around the world was able to bring home $ 120.5 million a year later in 2000. That was the second highest annual salary in Canada at the time.

Jacques Bougie also held important board positions at various companies and organizations, such as B. the Royal Bank of Canada (1991-1999), Bell Canada (1992-1999) and BCE Mobile Communications, Inc. (1988-1995). He was also Vice President of the BCNI (1998–2001) and President of the Canada-Japan Business Committee (1994–1999).

He is currently Chairman of the International Advisory Council at CGI Group Inc. and Director of NOVA Chemicals Corporation, McCain Foods Ltd., RONA Inc. and Abitibi Consolidated Inc.
