Jacques Delannoy

Jacques Delannoy (born August 5, 1912 in Douai , † 1958 ) was a French football player .

Club career

Delannoy was part of the team that brought the club Olympique Lille in the course of the 1931/32 season qualification for Division 1 , which was newly created in 1932 as a national professional league . He was on the pitch when Lille played its first game in the French top division on September 11, 1932, losing 2-1. The striker continued to appear for the club in the years that followed, but never made it into the top scorer list.

He played the 1936/37 season with league rivals Red Star Paris . then he returned to Lille and reached the national cup final with the team in 1939 ; he was called up in the final, but missed a possible title win due to a 3-1 loss to Racing Paris . In the same year, regular gaming was interrupted by the start of World War II, and Delannoy was no longer involved in its resumption in 1944. From 1946 he worked as an amateur trainer.

National team

On July 5, 1932, Delannoy made his debut for the French national team when he was used in an away game in Yugoslavia . The friendly game ended in a 2-1 defeat and was the only call for the striker from Lille to join the national team.
