Jacques Marseille (born October 15, 1945 in Abbeville , † March 4, 2010 in Paris ) was a French historian and economist .

biography

In 1989, Marseille became professor at the Chair of Economic History and Social Sciences at the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne and held this professorship until his retirement in 2009.

At first his ideas were shaped by communism , but he later turned into a representative of the free market economy as well as an economic and political liberalism .

In the course of his activity he was not only editor of the “Histoire” collection at the publishing house “Nathan” as well as the author of articles in the weekly magazine “Le Point” and in the supplement “Enjeux-Les Échos” of the financial newspaper Les Échos .

His other publications appeared with the publishers Éditions Albin Michel and Éditions Larousse , before he published them in 1999 in the self-publisher Éditions Jacques Marseille. His most important works were:

  • "Puissance et Faiblesse de la France industrial",
  • "Vive la crise et l'inflation", 1983
  • "Lettre ouverte aux Français qui s'usent en travaillant et qui pourraient s'enrichir en dormant", 1992
  • “La Guerre des deux France. Celle qui avance et celle qui freine ", 2005
  • “Pouvez-vous devenir ou rester français?”, 2010.

For his services he was made a Knight of the Legion of Honor (Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur (Ch. LH)).
