Jad Kennedy ( Heb .: יד קנדי, German: Kennedy-Mahnmal ) is located in the regional association Mateh Jehuda near Jerusalem , Israel . It is a monument to John F. Kennedy , the President of the United States , who was assassinated in 1963.

The monument is about 18 meters high and designed in the shape of a sawed-off tree stump, symbolizing the sudden end of his life. Inside the monument is a bust of John F. Kennedy with an eternal flame in the center. The flame is surrounded by 51 pillars bearing the emblems of the United States (50 states and the District of Columbia ). There is also a relief in the interior by Dov Feigin from 1966, a Ukrainian-Israeli sculptor .

The construction of the monument was financed in 1966 by money from the Jewish National Fund of America from the USA. The building was designed by the Israeli architect David Resnick .

The memorial is about seven miles from Jerusalem and faces the Hadassah Medical Center . It can be reached via the places Ora and Aminadav . The monument and the associated picnic area are part of the John F. Kennedy Peace Forest .
