Maria Josepha Rossello
Maria Josepha Rossello (born May 27, 1811 in Albisola , † December 7, 1880 in Savona ) was an Italian founder of the order . She is venerated as a saint in the Roman Catholic Church .
Life
At the age of 17 she became a terziar of the Franciscan order. At the request of the local bishop , she and some young women founded two schools in Savona. In 1840 the institute "Daughters of Our Lady of Mercy" was established. Rossello, who particularly endeavored to ransom African slave children, headed the religious community for four decades as Superior General.
Pope Pius XI she beatified on November 6, 1938 - and Pius XII. Holy on June 12, 1949 . Her memorial day in the liturgy is December 7th . In 2000, a crypt was built in the Marienkirche in Offenbach am Main , which bears her name. Her relics are buried in the front altar of the Marienkirche.
